Pentax 2015CES_Reference_Kmount DSLR with new18-50mmThe ‘Lens-interchangeable K mount digital SLR camera’ features an APS-C sized CMOS image sensor, and will be available in Spring 2015. It will come with a new kit lens, which is a retracting 18-50mm f/4-5.6 zoom. The Pentax DSLR appears to be a mid-range SLR that will likely be an update to the current K-50, and the kit zoom looks impressively small when set to its retracted position.

Pentax 2015CES_Reference_super-telephoto zoom

The ‘High magnification super-telephoto zoom lens’ is a long telephoto zoom, which looks likely to be in the popular 100-400mm class. It has a tripod collar, and appears to have several AF stop buttons on the lens barrel, alongside a couple of switches, most likely Auto/Manual focus and focus limiter. There also seems to be a focus distance window ontop of the barrel placed close to the camera. This would make a very welcome addition to the Pentax lens range, but no launch date has been given.

Pentax 2015CES_Reference_Large diameter telephoto zoom

The final product is a ‘large diameter’ telephoto zoom, i.e. with a large maximum aperture, most likely f/2.8. This lens also has a tripod foot and a focus distance window. It could be a refresh of the existing Pentax 50-135mm F2.8 SDM, or perhaps more likely, a brand new lens in the 70-200mm f/2.8 class. Again, there’s word on a prospective launch date.

We’ll be tracking these lenses down at CES to get a better idea of what’s going on, so stay tuned. You can follow all of our latest CES 2015 coverage right here.
